LISREL, PRELIS and MULTILEV Statistical Software
This suite of products, which performs structural equation modeling, is marketed for Windows and UNIX platforms by Scientific Software International. SSI is a software publisher whose focus is on the commerical marketing of scientific software that is developed by working academics. The LISREL product, which includes the PRELIS and MULTILEV components, was developed by Professors Karl Jöreskog and Dag Sörbom, University of Uppsala.
The SSI website asserts that LISREL and PRELIS "are the most advanced programs available for analysis of large linear systems when both dependent and independent variables are subject to error, and/or when qualitative variables are included in the analysis. The programs also perform path analysis, multiple indicator-multiple criterion analysis, recursive and nonrecursive modeling of temporal data, confirmatory factor analysis, and analysis of covariance structures."
A readily available alternative for performing structural equation modeling is the CALIS procedure in SAS.
